The HALAL AWARENESS COURSE FOR FOOD HANDLERS is your introductory course to Halal principles, standards, and regulations for food establishments. This course is OPEN FOR EVERYONE and will provide the basic information you need to know about Halal food handling in order for you to provide better and more convenient service to your diverse customers in the catering, retail, and food service sector. The course was developed primarily to help non-Muslim establishments to understand their Muslim customers' needs and be confident in serving their diverse customers.

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

• Understand the Principles and Concepts of Halal in food management.
• Know the Halal food and restrictions.
• Understand the importance of purchasing of ingredients, proper food handling, avoiding cross-contamination up to serving of halal food.
• Increase awareness on Halal standards and regulations in the Philippines.

Ms. Norkhalila Mae B. Mambuay-Campong, FSCO is a food entrepreneur and Halal practitioner based in Cagayan de Oro City. She and her husband own and manage Babu Kwan's Restaurant-- the first and only Halal-certified restaurant in the whole of Northern Mindanao. She is also a Food Safety Compliance Officer (FSCO) with expertise and industry experience and training in halal, culinary, quality management, food safety, and restaurant management.

She finished a degree in AB Philosophy and worked in the government for a decade as a university instructor, Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff to the Regional Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. When the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG-ARMM) sought for an ISO certification, Ms. Mambuay-Campong was the Quality Management Representative. ORG-ARMM maintained its ISO 9001:2005 and ISO 9001:2015 for three consecutive years.

Certificate of Awareness will be given to the student who completed the course.
